The Lake Harriet CAC Ning Site

Thanks for your interest in the Lake Harriet CAC, and welcome to the Ning networking site for the Lake Harriet CAC. This public space was created for CAC members to exchange information on draft materials, share preliminary ideas and information, and generally engage in informal conversation.

Non-CAC members are welcome to visit anytime and to communicate with CAC members by contacting me at either mattp@pobox.com or 612.839.3320, but only CAC members and the staff/consulting support team may post on this site. The CAC has created a Work Plan / Stakeholder Engagement Plan which can be found HERE.

General information and all final/approved documents generated by and for the CAC will be posted on the MPRB's Lake Harriet CAC website HERE.

Lake Harriet CAC Purpose

The Lake Harriet Citizen's Advisory Council (CAC) is a resident-based body created by the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB) Commissioners at their April 4, 2009 board meeting. The charge of the Lake Harriet CAC is "to review and discuss the scope of concession opportunities; the general atmosphere of the band shell; to review a schematic design and site for a potential auxiliary concession or other structure; and present a report with recommendations to the Board." The Lake Harriet CAC is made up of 11 residents who will conduct their work over six meetings, the last of which is currently scheduled for September, 2009.

Lake Harriet CAC Meeting #7 Scheduled for November 30

The Lake Harriet CAC will hold CAC Meeting #7 on Monday, November 30, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Linden Hills Recreation Center.

At the Lake Harriet CAC Meeting #6, CAC members agreed to the recommendation that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board provide additional food concession options at the Lake Harriet Pavilion and minimize negative community impacts by expanding concession operations into the breezeway area within the footprint of the existing concession building.

The Lake Harriet CAC is currently working on a draft recommendations report. The draft report will be reviewed and discussed at CAC Meeting #7.

Please contact Matt Perry if you have questions at 612-839-3320 or mattp@pobox.com.

Online Survey (CLOSED)

The Lake Harriet CAC conducted 404 brief surveys of people (832 total) in and around the concession area at the Lake Harriet Pavilion to get their input on some key questions. These surveys were done during late June and early July. The results of these surveys can be found by clicking HERE.

We closed the online survey on Monday, August 17, 2009 in order to have sufficient time to compile and begin the analysis of the responses prior to the Lake Harriet CAC's next meeting.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to complete the online survey. Your input will be used to help inform the CAC as it develops its recommendations.

Please contact Matt Perry at mattp@pobox.com or mattp@pobox.com if you have any questions.
